The Bath County Memorial Library Bookmobile provides personalized, comprehensive library service to people who may have difficulty visiting their community library. This service includes Bookmobile stops or delivery for the home-bound, senior citizens, individuals with physical limitations, care facilities, schools, daycare's, neighborhoods, and private and group residences.
Special Pop-Up libraries will be featured at public venues, local businesses, senior living facilities, schools, etc. A Book Tote Exchange program also provides books to schools or organizations within the community.
The Bookmobile is a library on wheels! Bath County residents may board the vehicle to choose materials for check-out. We offer fiction and nonfiction books for children, young adults (YA), and adults (including large print). We also offer audio books, DVDs, Blu-Ray discs (by request), magazines (by request), seed packets (seasonal), and assistance with e-resources.
Patrons are able to request materials to be brought to them at their next scheduled visit. Requests can be made in person, by calling the library at 606-674-2531, or by logging into their account and placing holds on items. Requests should be placed a minimum of two days before the scheduled visit. If requests aren’t received with a two-day minimum, materials may not be available until the next scheduled visit.
New patrons may apply for and receive a library card on the Bookmobile.
About Pop-Up Libraries!
Pop-Up Libraries are just that! We pop up a selection of materials, based on the event or the location, on a table top and provide limited library services. Patrons may be able to sign up for a library card, receive information about the library and its services, enjoy free Wi-fi, or participate in a hands-on activity.
Business or community groups are encouraged to contact the library if they are interested in having us Pop-Up. We can do one-time events or schedule stops for a set period of time.
Book Tote Exchange Program!
We can provide a tote of up to 25 books to your class/school or organization. Two weeks later, we’ll pick up that tote and exchange it with a new one. The teacher/school/organization would be issued a library card, specifically for tote checkout. Books for the totes are selected by library staff based upon age and content
requested by the card holder. . The library card holder is responsible for keeping up with the books in the tote and any lost/damaged fees.
