Deck the Halls and more fun!

November 24, 2017

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and filled up on turkey, gravy, and a variety of desserts! I know I had a great time spending time with my family. But now it's time to return to work and begin the countdown to the new year.

As you know we have been really busy at the library with programming and conferences. Now with a bit of lag time, I get to look forward and plan for the coming year. That's not to say we do not have programs and events planned until the end of 2017, but now we have the beginnings of programming planned for 2018.

This is the "rundown" of upcoming events we hope to see all of you attend.

  • Deck the Halls, is an event we host with the Bath County Arts Council. Businesses, churches, and individuals donate handmade Christmas decor to be auctioned by November 29, 2017. Items can be viewed and bid on until 4:30 pm December 2, 2017 (online) and in person until 5:00 pm December 2, 2017. If you have an item to donate, contact Holly at the library or bring it to the library beginning November 24, 2017.

  • The Click & Shoot Photography Show is going on right now at the library and will continue until January 11, 2018. If you would like to show some of your work, you may bring no more than three photos to the library by December 14, 2017. We invite all ages to join us for the Click & Shoot meetings held every 2nd Thursday of the month at 5:30 pm at the library.

  • January 2018 begins the year with BCML's Peace Crane project. The Peace Crane Project (https://peacecraneproject.org/) is an international event involving groups, schools, and individuals around the world. The library would like to collect origami cranes or doves to create an exhibit for viewing for United Nations International Day of Peace on September 21, 2018. There will be origami paper and instructions available at the library.

  • Last year in February we had our 1st "Library Loves Authors" program and radio show. This year we plan to hold it again. Invited authors submit excerpts from one of their books to be read out loud by the library as the characters. The program will be recorded and attendees may ask the authors questions after the show. Dates and times will be listed soon.

2018 is shaping up to be full of great programming and I can't wait to see everyone attend!
